Andrzej Kwiecinski, an internationally recognized Kitchener-based artist, passed away on January 26, 2009. Andrew who had self taught himself his craft, was an already well-established artist before emigrating from his native Poland to Canada in 1981.
He was a loving and proud father. He leaves behind his son, Maurice, daughters, Helena and Matilda and his former wife, Maria, his life long friend and companion He will also be sadly missed by his warrior cat, Thomas, as well as his many, many friends.
His wonderful talent was widely recognized by the artistic world. He exhibited his works frequently throughout Europe, Canada and the U.S.A. and received numerous awards in recognition of his unique gift. His watercolours captured his love of nature and his use of light, colour and texture; he made a simple landscape memorable. He was also a highly skilled, accomplished conservator and was involved in many heritage restorations throughout Canada and Unites States. The art world has lost a true artist, a Master, a "painter's painter".
His family will receive friends at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street on Saturday, January 31, 2009 between 1 and 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the K-W Humane Society. Please feel free to post any condolences on this blog in the comments section or send an email to akwatercolours@yahoo.ca.
It was Andrzej's last wish that his ashes be taken to Poland and laid to rest at his family's grave.

A man ... a gentle giant ... an artist who was dedicated to his craft.
Andrew Kwiecinski's art is as unique as the man himself. To all the lucky individuals who are fortunate enough to own one of Andrew's creations, know that his legacy will continue live on thanks to you.
The world has lost a great artist and a humble human being.
My sincere condolences to his family. Sleep well my friend ... sleep well.

Andrzej byl przedewszystkim prawdziwym dobrym czlowiekiem.
Zawsze pomocny, zawsze uczynny o duzym sercu i glebokiej gamie emocjonalnej.
Hockey Hall Of Fame w Toronto.
Nasze wspolne drogi na polu artystycznym skrzyzowaly sie wkrotce po przyjezdzie do Canady w poczatkach lat osiemdziesiatych kiedy zaprosilem go do wspolpracy nad witrazem Jana Pawla II w Polskim Kosciele, gdzie Andrzej malowal twarz i rece Papieza.
Podziwialismy go jako ojca ktory kochal swe dzieci, myslal i mowil o nich czesto, staral sie byc z nimi w bliskich kontaktach i zawsze wspieral je materialnie.
Odzwiedzalem go czesto /czasem z zona/ , zwykle bez zapowiedzi
i zawsze bylem z przyjety z otwartymi ramionami i radoscia na twarzy.
W jego towarzystwie czulismy sie swobodnie i zawsze mielismy sobie bardzo duzo do powiedzenia. Laczyly nas wspolne zainteresowania sztuka, folozofia zycia, polityka, pozyczalismy sobie nawzajem ksiazki, filmy, dzielac sie pozniej wrazeniami.
Bedzie nam tych wizyt brak. Odczuwamy gleboko utrate szczerego przyjaciela, o wielkim sercu i wspanialego artysty jakim byl Andrzej.

Andrew, thank you so much for the portrait you've made of me as a wedding gift. Even my kids say it looks so much like me, it could be mistaken for a photo. You've had an amazing natural talent and ability to transfer still life, people and above all, landscapes onto a canvas in such a way, that it was awe-inspiring. You were a remarkable Artist that the Art World will truly miss among it's peers. My deepest sympathy goes out to your family,Maria,Malorycy, Helena and Matilda.
my dear friend; I have known you for a long time and am so glad, now, that I ran into you at the library this summer, and reconnected. Your wonderful art in my house keeps you near and your generosity will live in my heart forever. My deepest condolences to your family
I miss you andre..
